New Board Members

4/1/2020

In the interests of developing strongest possible representation of Illustrators in the organization, we are fortunate to report that Taina Litwak has joined the Board of Directors of ASCRL, moving out of her position on the Advisory Board. Taina has been active with other organization work in the past. She has been active member of GNSI, and Illustrators Club DC/MD/VA. Taina is taking the seat left open by Jeff Sedlik, who left this board position to focus on the work he does as President of the PLUS Registry.

ASCRL is also fortunate to have three additional leaders in the illustration field join the Advisory Board. ASCRL welcomes to the Advisory Board Marie Dauenheimer. Marie is active with her professional association, the Association of Medical illustrators, and is a past Secretary and Director to the Board of Governors.  She is a Trustee for the Vesalius Trust  for Visual Communications in Health Sciences. She is also a past president of Illustrators Club DC/MD/Va.

ASRCL also welcomes, to the Advisory Board, David Goldman, from the world renowned David Goldman Agency.  Since GDA was originally established in New York in 1980 it has been providing award winning illustration to advertising agencies, graphic design firms, magazine, newspapers, book publishers, corporations, licensees, animation production companies, and a world of image users. In fact, DGA artists have been used in some of the most successful print and television ad campaigns in the world, and over 600 awards for illustration excellence have been bestowed upon DGA artists and animation designers to date. Now the agency is well known as the exclusive representative of a small boutique group of the world's premier professional commercial illustrators, designers, authors, and TV show creators. David has also been involved in developing, producing, and selling television properties with David Russo in partnerships with Mark Burnett Productions, Magic Johnson, Paula Abdul, MTV, USA Network, NBC, Discovery Channel, GSN, and most recently in 2019 with ITV.

Joe Azar also joins the Advisory Board. Joe has been on the Board of The Illustrators Club DC/MD/VA, almost since its founding in 1986. He has written frequently on copyright and legal issues of concern to illustrators, and is a former member of the Graphic Artist's Guild for whom he has updated a chapter on professional issues in the 7th Edition of the Pricing and Ethical Guidelines. He is also a former member of the National Cartoonists Society. To say that Joe has been an advocate for illustrators barely scratches the surface of the decades of work Joe has devoted to the field, and ASCRL is particularly grateful that it can rely upon the knowledge he has to offer based on his many years of involvement in the development of collective licensing in the United States. Since 1976 Joe has been a member of the District of Columbia andVirginia bars
